Description

Murray’s Timber was established in 1977 in Ballygar, county Galway in the West of Ireland by its Managing Director Mr. Paddy Murray. In 1994 the company commissioned a high production processing facility in Ballygar.  In 1997 they acquired a sawmill in Ballon, County Carlow and in 2000 they commissioned a high production processing facility in Ballon.  Although an extensive fire destroyed the Ballygar premises in 2005 Murrays proceeded with its business in Ballon in 2006 by commissioning a high speed planer mill.  In 2007 Murrays commissioned a state-of-the-art sawmill in Ballygar to replace the destroyed plant. In 2008, a high speed planer was commissioned for Ballygar and also in 2008 Murrays launched the Eased Edge product as their standard carcassing material. A new SRN brand was launched in 2008 bringing greater success and competitiveness to the company.

Since its initial start in 1977 Murray Timber has grown to become one of the largest sawmills in Ireland.  The company invests heavily in its state-of-the-art sawmilling equipment which has resulted in its prominent place as an international sawmilling company.  The company operates from two central locations, Ballygar in County Galway in the West of Ireland and Ballon in County Carlow.  The company owes two world class processing facilities capable of processing in excess of 800,000 m3 of logs annually. The plants are ideally located to meet the domestic and export demand. Murray’s construction timber is Kiln Dried and Graded in accordance with NSAI standards to ensure adherence to specified moisture content regulations, using top class techniques.

Murray Timber supplies products to the construction, garden and fencing and packaging market in both Ireland and the U.K.  The company currently processes in excess of 400,000 m3 of round logs annually and employs 135 people directly with many more employed indirectly in small rural areas.
